B. Brown –
This is the scrummiest chocolate I have ever tasted. Completely raw, free from sugar and all other nasty stuff but deliciously tasty. Not cheap, though, but worth the money.
Mark –
Both the wrappings and the bars themselves are, I think, very attractive and would be a visually impressive for a gift. When I opened the outer shipping carton and saw the individual bar packets they certainly had some ‘wow’ factor.
When observed from the nutty surface the bars look to be solid slabs but on the underside each bar has grooves in the chocolate that allow a square to be broken away easily for sharing. The bars are noticeably more massive than the puny 70g sizes of some other raw-chocolate brands.
Chocolate preferences are literally a matter of taste and, alas, I didn’t much like the taste of this particular chocolate. The texture was good, the flavour rich and only slightly bitter. It wasn’t bad chocolate and and I certainly can’t identify anything specific that might be a “defect” or “fault”. In particular I didn’t detect any flavours or taste sensations that I’d associate with unhealthy chocolate — no racing heart, no caffeine-induced light-headedness, no cloying, and certainly no sickly-sweetness; I just didn’t like it as much as I’d hoped and my preference is probably for something a little less strong, a little sweeter, perhaps slightly more ‘fruity’. I found the flavour of this chocolate to be solid and wholesome but also a little dull. The nutty additions seemed to be crunchy and fresh and I detected no rancid flavours with them.
